Demineralization of Miscanthus Biocrude Obtained from Catalytic Hydrothermal Liquefaction: Conditioning through Acid Washing

چکیده

In this contribution, we successfully applied demineralization (i.e., solvent-assisted separation and acid washing) for the removal of carbonaceous solids inorganics from a biocrude obtained catalytic hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) Miscanthus. The experimental results all six employed acids showed that 0.1 M H2SO4 was most effective significantly reduced metallic (Fe by 93.9%, <15 µg/g Mg 95.6%, 2.1 µg/g) ash content (by 92.7% to 337 already filtered biocrude. utilized demineralizing agents caused loss nitrogen organic carbon (1% total (TOC) 0.058% (TN) in H2SO4). Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) clarified nature loss, showing 54% ketones 39% alcohols were removed when employed. Furthermore, FT-IR spectra remained same before after washing without affecting any functional groups. This work therefore proposes as viable route high inorganic lignocellulosic HTL biocrudes.

Characterizing Semivolatile Organic Compounds of Biocrude from Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Biomass

Hydrothermal liquefaction of biomass produces a complex biocrude, which can be further upgraded to biofuel or chemicals, but there is a need for improved molecular understanding of product composition and reaction pathways. This study extensively characterizes semivolatile compounds in biocrudes from hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of microalgae (N. gaditana, C. vulgaris), macroalgae (L. hyperb...

Biomass-to-biocrude on a chip via hydrothermal liquefaction of algae.

Hydrothermal liquefaction uses high temperatures and pressures to break organic compounds into smaller fractions, and is considered the most promising method to convert wet microalgae feedstock to biofuel. Although, hydrothermal liquefaction of microalgae has received much attention, the specific roles of temperature, pressure, heating rate and reaction time remain unclear. We present a microfl...

Chemical properties of biocrude oil from the hydrothermal liquefaction of Spirulina algae, swine manure, and digested anaerobic sludge.

This study explores the influence of wastewater feedstock composition on hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) biocrude oil properties and physico-chemical characteristics. Spirulina algae, swine manure, and digested sludge were converted under HTL conditions (300°C, 10-12 MPa, and 30 min reaction time). Biocrude yields ranged from 9.4% (digested sludge) to 32.6% (Spirulina). Although similar higher ...

Hydrothermal liquefaction of biomass: developments from batch to continuous process.

This review describes the recent results in hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of biomass in continuous-flow processing systems. Although much has been published about batch reactor tests of biomass HTL, there is only limited information yet available on continuous-flow tests, which can provide a more reasonable basis for process design and scale-up for commercialization. High-moisture biomass fee...
